Taking Flight: A New Way Forward

The baby birds have found their wings and flown from the nest!
Earlier this week, I found this tiny nest in the grass in my backyard.

It’s a beautiful sight to watch them take their first flight - that initial leap and gentle fall until they spread their wings and are uplifted. They instinctively know, trust and surrender to the process.
Every summer, birds would move into the birdhouse above the shed door at my parents' home. When my son, nephews and nieces were young, it was always a joy to watch them watch the baby birds grow week after week.
When they first hatched, we could only hear their little peeps, especially when mama bird would come back with dinner. Eventually, we could see a few beaks near the opening. And, in what seemed like no time at all, their tiny heads would poke out as they waited impatiently.
When the time came to leave the nest, we often caught the whole bird family on the clothesline out in the backyard. Baby birds would take a leap, gently free fall until they caught flight. Mama bird was never far and would often catch their fall and boost them up to try again.
Here at Owl’s Nest, you are invited into a welcoming, safe and nurturing space to learn and share about yourself through a lens of curiosity and compassion.
In all of my offerings, you can expect to learn teachings and practices, as well as gain insight focused on the body-brain/mind (and spirit) connection and how this relates to, and shows up in, everyday life. This includes things like understanding the science behind the stress response and its impact on your nervous system.
When you get curious and start to understand how things work, you begin to practice with a different quality which can help you feel more grounded and present. You also begin to feel more at ease as life happens.
Over the years, my lived experience with PTSD, depression and anxiety have taught me and continue to teach me that life is a gentle practice of letting go in order to create space for better things to enter your life!
This work is rooted in trauma-informed, body-based practices and lived experience, and is offered as supportive wellness education rather than clinical treatment.
